Extensions to Grade II Listed Building in the Green Belt and AONB

The property, a Grade II Listed semi-detached house, is situated within the Metropolitan Green Belt and prominently sited on the side of the valley in the Surrey Hills AONB. The brief from the applicant was to significantly extend the property to provide a master suite, new reception room, entrance lobby and kitchen.
Owing to the Covid-19 restrictions at the time it was not possible to engage with the Council in pre-application services so working closely with the applicant D&M Planning were able to establish a design brief that was considered to be acceptable to the historic and landscape context.
Despite objection from the local historic society, D&M Planning were able to successfully argue within a Heritage and Planning Statement that the extension was entirely appropriate, and planning permission was subsequently granted.
