In 2012, Matt graduated with a Bachelors degree in Modern History from the University of Exeter before going on to complete a Masters degree in Modern History at the University of Kent in 2013. Matt began his planning career at Waverley Borough Council in 2016 as a Planning Enforcement Officer, which presented a wide range of planning issues involving the research into alleged unauthorised development. Whilst working at Waverley, Matt moved to the role of Planning Officer during which time he was involved in the managing of major planning applications from pre-application stage through to determination, householder applications / minor development, appeals, Certificates of Lawful Development under Sections 191 and 192 and Prior Approvals. During his time at Waverley, Matt began studying for a Masters in Planning Policy and Practice at London South Bank University. He finished his studies in September 2019. Matt joined D&M Planning in 2018 as a Planner and was elected as a fully chartered member of the RTPI in 2021. His experience includes engaging and negotiating with Local Authority Officers and key stakeholders, project management and applications relating to commercial and residential development, change of uses, rural development, appeals and site promotion. Matt also provides strategic advice and feasibility studies amongst other planning matters.
