In 2011, Ryan graduated with a Bachelors degree in Geography (Human and Physical) from the University of Reading before going on to complete a Masters degree in Planning Practice and Research from Cardiff University in 2012.
Ryan began his career at Waverley Borough Council in 2012 as a Planning Enforcement Officer, which presented a wide range of planning issues that had to be addressed through mediation, negotiation and legislative planning enforcement tools available to deal with alleged and unauthorised development.
Whilst working at Waverley, Ryan moved to the role of Planning Officer and soon on to Senior Planning Officer. Experience in these roles included managing major planning applications from pre-application stage through to determination, householder applications / minor development, appeals, Certificates of Lawful Development under Sections 191 and 192, Prior Approvals and EIA Development.
Ryan became a chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute during his time at Waverley and is committed to continuing his professional development in Planning.
Ryan joined D&M Planning in 2017 as a Senior Planner. His experience includes engaging and negotiating with Local Authority Officers and key stakeholders, project management and applications relating to commercial and residential development, change of uses, rural development and appeals.
